Join us for a special living library public reading event featuring an
intimate conversation with a family affected by rare dementia.
Hosted by Dr. Scott Russell, Nipissing University Chancellor, this
session invites the audience to listen, learn and reflect as a family
shares their experiences, insights and hopes. Clinical neurologist,
Dr. Donald Weaver, will also join the conversation to offer helpful
clinical perspectives.
Our Chapter One Cafe in the Learning Library atrium is open from
9:00 am for coffee. This unique event places both the person living
with dementia and their immediate family supporter at the heart of
the conversation, creating a space for learning and understanding.

3rd Floor Harris Learning Library
Take part in a living library event where you can engage in a
one-on-one virtual conversation with individuals who are living
with a rare dementia or supporting a family member.
These 30-minute conversations offer a rare opportunity to listen,
ask questions and learn directly from those who are living with the
realities of dementia. Each “human book” invites open, respectful
dialogue to foster awareness and understanding.

Harris Learning Library Atrium
Explore a creative art exhibition featuring work from Mme. Suzanne
Menard’s student art club at St. Joseph’s Scollard Hall Catholic
Secondary School.
Inspired by themes of family life,
neurodegenerative decline and support, these young artists use
painting, sculpture and mixed media to reflect on what it means to
stay connected across generations. The installation invites viewers
to pause, reflect and engage with rare dementia through the
power of art.

Join Dr. Donald Weaver, MD, PhD, FRCPC, FCAHS, for a research
showcase highlighting innovative work that deepens our
understanding of dementia and its impact on individuals, families
and communities.
This session will examine the global landscape for public health
solutions for good brain health including preventing dementia,
advancements in diagnosis and therapeutics and innovative
approaches to rehabilitation and long-term support.
Co-hosted by the Office of Graduate Studies and Research.
Piece by Piece

Experience an original play written by Allison Green, award-winning playwright, with RDS Canada and featuring performances
by students from Almaguin Highlands Secondary School.
Inspired by research discoveries and conversations with people
affected by rare dementia, this production explores the themes of
love, support and human connection. Through the voices of
young performers, the play invites the audience to reflect on what
rare and young onset dementia means and how it is experienced
within the family and across generations.
