Sip & Sonder: Connections with Self, Family, Community and the Natural Environment
1 & 2 November, 2023
RDS Canada recently hosted an installation of maps of connections drawn by people affected by dementia at the North Bay Museum. The ‘eco-maps’ provide a visual representation of a person’s or family’s connections, the quality of these connections and the flow of energy or resources to and from connections. These maps of connections were part of a study that explored connections to people, the natural environment (blue/green/white spaces) and periods of connection to self. In addition to the installation of maps, visitors were encouraged to draw their own maps and reflect on their impact on their social and physical health.
We are grateful to the RTOERO Foundation for their generous support of our connections study. We also thank the project participants and visitors for their contributions to the success of this work.
